Background:

Ms Gan Zy Lei graduated with LLB from University of Northumbria, United Kingdom in 2009. She completed the Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) in 2010 and was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2011. Ms Gan completed her pupilage with Messrs Koo Chin Nam & Co in Kuala Lumpur and upon completion of her pupilage, she joined Messrs Fong Yap & Gan as a legal Assistant. In February 2022, she joined Benjamin Tan & Co as a partner, and later in August 2022, she became a partner at LILEE CHAMBERS.

Professional Experience:

Ms Gan Zy Lei has experience in real estate, banking and corporate finance, will and trust, probate, family, and industrial matters. She has extensive experience advising on real estate transactions, sale and purchase transactions, retail banking, and housing loan transactions. Her practice has afforded her the opportunity to be involved in drafting various types of agreements such as joint venture agreements, shareholders’ agreements, franchise agreements, partnership agreements, tenancy agreements, lease agreements, and others.

Ms Gan Zy Lei advises vendors and purchasers, including foreigners, on the rules and regulations related to the sale and purchase of property in Malaysia, especially in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. She also has vast experience advising banks and borrowers on loan and security documentations, including retail loans and commercial loans, conventional and Islamic banking documentations.

Her experience also extends to civil litigation and probate matters. She advises and represents clients on general civil disputes and assists clients with estate planning, preparing wills, and other probate-related matters.
